Add a CommentAwesome movie about cops and bad guys. Bad guys who are cops. Very interesting! Denzel Washington is excellent as Alonzo Harris.
This movie was too choppy & hard to follow. Some very angry wanna be alpha males, Too much testosterone for me.
This is a 2001 American crime thriller directed by Antoine Fuqua.
The story follows two LAPD narcotics officers over a 24-hour period in the gang-ridden neighborhoods of the LAPD Rampart Division and South Central Los Angeles.
Detective Alonzo Harris played by Denzel Washington is a corrupted officer you would love to hate.
This is a rare opportunity for Denzel to take a bad-man role.
Although Denzel plays this bad officer superbly, there is nothing much in the film except for police corruption.
seen better
This Is My #1 Fave..... One I Can Watch At Least Once A Week....... Seriously (If Bored Though)
This is not as good as "The Departed."
Training Day is not a really very happy film. this film portrays two los angeles policeman in the darkest part of that city. denzil washington portrays what my ex-wife in amsterdam holland would call pure 'kitsche'...with some naughtyness that the dutch call 'niet zo goed'.behavior. denzil's policeman partner is the handsome ethan hawke, young, dumb, who is taken for a ride by denzil, this is a scary film. denzil is really sent by god to deliver us this performance. ethan hawke from the film 'reality bites' shows us this country that was usa, is still home to 'us'..rent this movie
Wow. Denzel plays the crooked and ruthless Alonzo Harris very well. So well I was rooting for Hoyt to get him in the end. The movie held my attention, and kept me wondering what was gonna happen next. A lot of what Harris says to Hoyt, about what detectives have to do to make it on the streets and get the felony convictions, is probably true, however wrong it may be. I guess it becomes a question of how far do they go.
This film is not a Lethal Weapon-style buddy cop film. It's far more than a good cop/bad cop film. It's a dark and slowly paced drama built on tensions between two extreme moral values and the vastness of the spectrum between them. It exposes layers of cop corruption that isn't ignored, but is rarely explored like this film does. However, being told about this film from others, I expected incredible levels of suspense, action, and just a different mood and tone in general. Either my expectations were far too high or this film is decent and somewhat original but not exceptional. Either way, I'd recommend it to those who like a good villain -- someone you love to hate.
This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. “Not too bad---good performance”. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”
