I really like the surrealistic artwork of Rene Magritte. IMO - He was one of the top dogs in his field of painting.

Born (1898) in Lessines, Belgium - (artist) Rene Magritte certainly produced (through the unique vision of his artwork) some of the most recognizable images of the 20th century.

I think it's ironic that when Magritte's first surrealist paintings were displayed for public viewing in 1926, they were panned outright by the critics.

This glossy volume gives the reader a good overview of Magritte's output during his lifetime.

In 1967 - Rene Magritte (68 at the time) died of pancreatic cancer.

When it comes to the artists of the "Surrealist Movement" (1920's to 1930's) - (painter) Rene Magritte definitely ranks right up there as being one of my very favorite of all.

Born (1898) in Lessines, Belgium - Magritte produced his first surrealist paintings in 1926 and when they were presented through a well-known art gallery, they were panned outright by critics.

With obvious wit and insight - Magritte produced many thought-provoking images, simply by presenting ordinary objects in a highly-unusual context.

This glossy volume contains 300 paintings in all that impressively cover the full spectrum of Magritte's work throughout his lifetime.

*Note* - In 1967 - Rene Magritte (68 at the time) died of pancreatic cancer.
