An amazing film. Acting, cinematography, story, all live up to the accolades it has received world-wide. Definitely not for the carchase/shootout/blockbuster effects crowd, it's a movie that rewards concentration and personal investment. At about double the length of the average Hollywood production mill film, in Inuit with subtitles, its general public as well as critical success is heartening.

Phenomenal. A solid portrayal of factual historical Inuit life, and the cultural and social constructs that were necessary for survival, woven throughout the telling of a legend.

(Not for those who prefer fast and flashy Hollywood razzle dazzle - this is a much slower paced, more contemplative film.)

I don't understand the love that this movie gets from critics. Shots are poorly framed so frequently that following action and conversation is very difficult. Cinematography skill is non-existent, and the quality of camera work and footage quality varies wildly between scenes in a very disorienting manner. The acting is perfunctory at best and high school drama club at worst. The music is nice though, so I guess there's that.

Not exactly sure what all the people at the film festivals saw in this movie. Definitly the oddest movie I've ever seen. You will probably never see anything else like this. Interesting in some way as you get to see Inuit ways of life and culture, as well as seeing the negatives that are common to all of us humans, and the positives common to all.

Absolutely one of the most amazing films ever filmed. The movie unfolds at a slow but welcoming pace and the buildup towards redemption and peace for both Antanarjuat and his tribe is amazing. The walrus shaman ending will absolutely puts chills down your spine. Best watched at night and in the deep of winter.

In such a stark and harsh environment where survival of the group depends on cooperation, blaming malevolent spirits for the evil that individuals do, is as good an explanation as any psychological or sociological one.

A very visual film - I enjoyed it tremendously. Not at all a "Hollywood" film so be prepared.
