Feb 21 2016.....well, I found another gem. Thanks to the library, because I'm sure I wouldn't have found this in a video store! It is so interesting to watch this masterpiece unfold, and the booklet that comes with it is just a bonus, as it gives the history and the controversy of the film. I am truly fascinated by the whole thing. (I'm only 1/2 way through though.) I just had to laugh as they are loading the nitro, all the people just standing around watching......um, duh!...........Feb 23, I was only going to watch another 15 minutes or so, but.....ended up staying up late to finish it off. Reading the booklet, and found that the beautiful actress at the beginning is the director's wife! I sure hope she has a few more brains in real life!!!! Anyway, I was on the edge of my seat till the end. Some things have changed since this movie was made, but unfortunately, a lot of things have stayed the same! Are we doomed??? ...............I was going to renew this and take the time to watch the bonus disc, but I see someone is waiting for it. I think I'm being followed!? Oh well, I'll get it again at a later date! Happy watching out there!

Watch this film and find out where many directors get their ideas from. Americans are chasing oil in a poor and desolate country. They create a situation where they exploit bleak and desperate men for a dangerous mission. Based on a book written by a convicted murderer who fled France for Venezuela. Cannes grand prize winner, best picture, best male lead actor.
