No one could stop Dillinger and his gang. No jail could hold him. His charm and audacious jailbreaks endeared him to almost everyone, from his girlfriend Billie Frechette to an American public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into the Depression. But while the adventures of Dillinger's gang thrilled many, Hoover made Dillinger America's first Public Enemy Number One.

Dillinger was one brazen s.o.b. and Depp did a great job here. It was nice to see him in a non-Tim Burton/somewhat normal role for a change.

Besides simply being a Johnny Depp movie that needs to be in your inventory, it is interesting to watch trying to figure out the mystique that Dillinger generated in his short life.

This movie was unwatchable due to major audio editing issues that were apparent even during the theatrical release of the film... sad that in this day and age something as simple as audio editing ruins an entire film

The romanticized version of the public enemy number one Dillinger during the depression era. Great stars and rich production of period FBI struggling to contain criminals who favored the Tommy guns.

Really boring. Throwing some shooting and kissing scenes does not make a movie.
After watching you are not even sure who where the public enemies bank robbers or policemen.

I wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. johnny depp as dillinger was credible but it was giovanni ribisi who was perfectly cast as alvin 'old creepy' karpis. the film played fast and loose with some facts but overall it was enjoyable.

A little slow at first, but better than I expected.

(John Dillinger is watching "Manhattan Melodrama" in the theater, and is particularly enthused with Clark Gable as Edward J. 'Blackie' Gallagher) Edward J. 'Blackie' Gallagher: "Die the way you lived -- all of a sudden. That's the way to go. Don't drag it out."

"Is that your money, Mister?"
"Yes"
"We're not here for your money, we're here for the bank's money. Put it away."
