Well written account of the Black Sox scandal of the 1919 World Series in which seven players "laid down" and lost the series on purpose for cash. (The eighth player knew about the plan but did not take part). Surprisingly relevant today in light of Major League Baseball's current steroid crisis. Cries for MLB to clean itself up in the early 20's are remarkably similar to the ones you hear today.
