"What is the microbiome? These trillions of tiny microbes living within our intestines help us extract the nutrients from our food in addition to exerting enormous influence over our metabolism, hormones, cravings, and even our genes. Cutting-edge science has shown that the microbiome is the secret to healthy, dramatic weight loss, as well as to significant improvements in overall health, mood, energy, and mental function. Specialist in integrative medicine and intestinal health Dr. Raphael Kellman has developed the first stand-alone diet that draws on these biological breakthroughs, translating the new science of the microbiome into a concrete program for fast, healthy, and permanent weight loss. With an easy three-phase plan and delicious recipes, The Microbiome Diet will help you heal your intestines and reboot your metabolism, enabling remarkable weight loss. "-- Provided by publisher.

When read from cover to cover this book is a great resource for those interested in learning about gut health. The layout of information in the book could be improved. Following the phases of the prescribed diet plan could be easier to follow along with if only the book was designed a little better. The actual meal plan that the author proposes is quite labor intensive and very expensive to follow. However, the recipes are quite delicious and I feel the doctor's advice is sound. I would recommend this book to a friend!

understandable info on what prebiotics and probiotics do and also what average American diet and meds do to our gut. I wonder why this topic is not getting more play in the media?
