Toltz's writing is brilliant and full of Australiaisms. The characters leap off the page with tenacity ready to tackle life's challenges. It kept me turning the pages all the night. Great Book!!

I loved this book. Engrossing story told with a unique writing style. One of the pleasant surprises is the life philosophies weaved into the story. Highly recommend.

Hilarious at first, talented writer & observer of behavior, but so long and tiresome.

Shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2008. This author has such a unique voice, and amazing wit. I loved it! Difficult to recommend to others, as it is so different.

Confused, tedious and indigestible. Hard to believe it was shortlisted for the Booker. Funny, yes, in a black way, but it goes on relentlessly.
