When this movie first came out,I wasn't sure that it would be that good, after watching it (a year later)I realized that this is one of the best star wars movies(even though it is technically not part of the trilogies. On a scale of one to ten,I would give this movie nine out of ten.

Five stars just for having Darth Vader in this film. I mean, who doesn't like that guy? :D

Rated 5-CHEESE: cheesy plot, cheesy creatures/costumes, cheesy CGI-space crafts, cheesy sets (spot Blade Runner, Dr. Strangelove, pseudo Mayan temples, etc. etc. etc.), cheesy action sequences (Kung Fu Monk, 007, Apocalypse Now, etc.) Nothing new here since 2001 except the actors with their wasted talent and big pay cheques..?

I was very skeptical when this was coming out, but was surprised to find that it was one of my favorite star wars movies. Great new characters, great backstory for the death star plans, and great movie in general.

I liked this Science Fiction DVD. For sexuality it is appropriate for children. It is violent. A child may find it scary. I love the Star Wars Series!

Spectacular visuals & a new cast of characters mixed with existing themes & characters along with a score from Michael Giacchino imitating the John Williams theme bring this back-story to this galaxy. It's easy to criticize this film from the unencrypted file server that looks like it contains 8 track tapes to bullet-dodging rebels that rarely get hit. Yes, you'll find yourself uttering, "that's impossible" to many scenes, but this all happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away & this adventure adds more meaning to Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. It's entertaining & provides incremental value to the whole Star Wars story.

This movie was… pretty good. The morals were excellent, the acting was okay, and the effects were stellar. Only not-so-great things are that the characters were sort of hard to connect with and the plot was a little slow and confusing. Overall, a must-watch for any Star Wars fan (you have to have watched all of the other movies to understand this one).

Best Star Wars movie since Empire Strikes Back.

This is the Star Wars movie that real fans have been waiting for. A great adventure story with sophisticated and funny characters and gritty morality. (Star Wars is not simply supposed to be a vehicle to sell toys) Also best drone sidekick ever. Not the usual moron sidekick designed to appease Lucas' false view of childhood. Shows what can be done with a proper director.

Now that we have a proper prequel for Star Wars (New Hope) can we get an alternative sequel like this movie. One where the evil Skywalker family is long gone and people who are not afflicted with the mediclorian decease fight against the Jedi/Sith order to bring freedom and liberty to the galaxy. Just a thought.

1) Empire Strikes Back, 2) Rogue One

Whenever I see any of the installments of the STAR WARS franchise I am reminded of Peter Biskind's excellent book EASY RIDERS, RAGING BULLS. The two directors that Biskind singles out as assassins of the auteur sensibility that destroyed the studio system and subsequently saved Hollywood are George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. I saw the first STAR WARS film again this summer after many years and what struck me was its lock, stock and barrel embrace of militarism, something that was hard to do even in a Hollywood blockbuster coming so close on the heels of the U.S. defeat in Vietnam. ROGUE ONE is cookie cutter schlock. The final battle on the planet Scarif is decent. But this is a movie for children, or adults who want to see the same film over and over again.

Violence: There is lots of violent space battle and fighting scenes. Rogue One is a little more violent than the other Star Wars movies.
