No need to race to the library to borrow this slow-paced movie. Romance was lacklustre; no real chemistry between the so-called lovers.

Decent romantic movie around the legend of Cher Ami (See quote.) Learn something new everyday!

Also legend of Cher Ami in wiki:

I've heard of horse racing, dog racing, but nothing about racing homing pigeons. Apparently it's a real sport. Racing Hearts(or Flying Home, the international movie title)is about finding love, discovering the past(World War I), and pigeon racing. The latter plays a role in both the present and the past. It's the reason Colin Montgomery(Jamie Dornan)gets sent to Belgium in the first place by his employer, a New York hedge fund, bent on securing a wealthy Arab sheikh as a client. The sheikh's hobby is pigeon racing, but he's been unsuccessful in securing a special racing bird, whose owner lives in Belgium and refuses to sell. Colin is in charge of securing the bird and the deal. And the way he goes about accomplishing both of these things is despicable. The romance between Colin and Isabelle, the granddaughter of the man who owns the coveted racing bird, is slow paced. There's no love at first sight and nobody jumps into bed together, which might be boring to some people seeking instant gratification. I didn't mind the pace of the movie because Colin had a lot to learn about himself and his ancestry. The guy misrepresented himself to Isabelle, her grandfather and the townspeople; that's NOT how you start any kind of healthy relationship. As for the past, I didn't know homing pigeons were used to deliver communications during World War I. I did know, historically, birds were used as messengers; I just didn't realize that went on during World War I. I don't know why that should surprise me. Even with all the technology we have today, we still train dogs to sniff out bombs and drugs.

Soooooo boring! I watched the first 15 minutes and then gave up. It was painful! :) Jamie Dorman is so bland and seems so much bored, poor him. I felt that the crew who made the movie didn't believe in it, it lacks soul and life. Too bad.

It's a beautiful movie. Love the storyline. So different than most Hollywood movies these days. Highly recommended!!! I've never seen Jamie Dornan acting before. In addition to being a handsome actor, he's a good actor!

WARNING: Spoiler Alert

Priest: Do you know who Cher Ami is?
Colin: No.
Priest: Cher Ami was a famous war pigeon. He saved 600 British soldiers in the Great War. It's... It's an incredible story. The British soldiers, they were lost in enemy territory. And their only hope of survival was their last pigeon, Cher Ami. And the Germans, they saw the bird take off and they opened fire. And it was hit several times,
but it kept on going. And it arrived at the command post, one eye shot out, a bullet in his breast and most of the leg that had the message capsule attached missing.
But the soldiers were saved. And Cher Ami, he received an Honorary Service Cross and after he died, a small statue was mounted in its honor on a little cemetery here.
