I was not surprised at the other comments on this film. We lasted 30 painful minutes. I wonder what criteria is used to select Stratford films? If you want a good modern western try Longmire which has Stratford resident Graham Greene playing one of the bad guys.

This movie seems to really lack energy. Kris Kristofferson and Bruce Dern can hardly deliver their lines these days. Luke Hemsworth is affable, but he doesn't have any gravitas with his facile demeanor. This movie's so bad, they can't put the bandages on the correct leg of the kid who was shot (doesn't the kid remember which leg was shot?)

If Wild Bill had been at my house watching this movie, I am confident he would have been riled up to the point he would have shot up the TV. There isn't an ounce of good Old West excitement to form even the flimsiest plot, and we never could come up with even a shallow reason the movie was made. Historical accuracy wavers too often for comfort, the first of several assaults on our intelligence being the scene in what appears to be a club car filled with men and -- gasp -- women --standing around in their 19th century traveling attire sipping adult beverages from what looks like modern day high ball glasses. Keep in mind the movie is set in 1871.

The only reason to endure this movie is to hear Trace Atkins talk. Next to Morgan Freeman, he has one of the most comforting voices around today.

As a western this one is pretty weak. Go for it only if you are a hardcore western fan and graving for some new stuff, regardless of quality.
