When the body of a high-value terrorist washes ashore after a severe storm across the Mediterranean Sea, Scot Harvath is tapped by the CIA to determine if the suspect was connected to months of rumors about a major attack. By the best-selling author of Foreign Agent.

Simon and Schuster
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor comes “his latest pulse-pounding adventure” (The Real Book Spy) that follows covert operative Scot Harvath as he is called upon to stop an ISIS-led plot to destroy the Vatican.

As a storm rages across the Mediterranean Sea, a terrifying distress call is made to the Italian Coast Guard. Days later, a body washes ashore. Identified as a missing high value terrorism suspect, his name sends panic through the Central Intelligence Agency.

Where was he headed? What was he planning? In a race against time, the CIA taps an unorthodox source to get answers: Navy SEAL turned covert counterterrorism operative, Scot Harvath. Hired on a black contract, Harvath will provide the deniability the United States needs, while he breaks every rule along the way.

Packed with heart-stopping action, fascinating characters, and electrifying intrigue, Brad Thor does it again with “his best book yet. Powerful and reads like the news of what is going on today” (Glenn Beck, #1 New York Times bestselling author).

Brad Thor has improved his craft. This was a better book than the first couple I read in style and execution. I may go back and fill in what I've missed.

Usual good read from Brad Thor and usual tough/smart guy Scott Harvath as the major character. The story line is interesting and creative. As always, Harvath and gang get themselves into serious messes and get out of them with creative, though sometimes improbable, means. One thing I really like about Thor's Harvath character is that the text often displays his thinking patterns and introspection on both options for action and post-option reflection on what went wrong and how he could have fixed it. Good read as always from Thor. Enjoy!

I had picked up this book because it was on multiple lists of top books of 2017. I stopped reading at page 99 (which I never do) because I was disappointed: the writing just seemed superficial/lazy. Books can be easy reads without being this superficial.
