For the time, this was probably a pretty good movie, but after reading the book and watching Baz Luhrman's 2013 adaptation, this movie seems terrible in comparison. While the costumes and non-animated settings are nice, the actors are definitely too old for their roles. Plus all the gasps during important parts are annoying (Gatsby *long gasp and zoom in* what Gatsby? Couldn't have given a bigger hint.) Additionally, this film stuck to the main plot but threw out out most if all not the symbolism about love and time that gave the story it's spark. Unless you have a big crush on Robert Redford, skip this film. The only piece I really enjoyed was Scott Wilson's (Hershel on The Walking Dead) portrayal of Myrtle's husband.
