This film stands as proof of the need for accountability and how it is part of the role of journalists in society to question authority, find and protect trustworthy sources, and seek the truth. ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN stands out for having a certain charisma, not just for being about one of the most notorious political scandals in American history. Its style amplifies its substance. Dustin Hoffman plays the fast-talking, somewhat socially inept, near-ruthless Bernstein with a perfect mixture of hunger and hope. However, I feel it is Redford that really blows it out of the water. Redford as Woodward takes more time to play the social game, offering politesse during a time period of threats and door-slamming. I preferred Redford over Hoffman, but the duo offer that unique brand of acting that makes you feel like you're seeing something for the first time with each and every screening. They emanate journalistic integrity and a mutual love for uncovering the truth about Watergate that proves that a couple of guys and a typewriter can change the course of history for the better. I would recommend everyone to screen it at least once in their lifetime.
