Top-name talent aside, I have to admit that I was quite disappointed with this big-budget Musical/Comedy/Romance from 1953._____ Even though it was beautifully photographed in stunning Technicolor, I found that out of its dozen, or so, musical numbers only 4 were real stand-outs (especially "A Shine On Your Shoes") and the rest came across as being too uninspired and forgettable to hold my undivided attention._____ It didn't help matters much that, under all of the glitz and glamour of this expensive MGM production, The Band Wagon's story turned out to be a really dumb and far-fetched "boy-meets-girl" tale whose believability just didn't gel, at all, as far as I'm concerned._____ From where I was sitting, I found that even actor/dancer Fred Astaire seemed to be denied more than just a few brief moments to really shine and dazzle us with some his fancy footwork._____ And, after it was all over and done, I was still scratching my head and wondering why this film was called "The Band Wagon".
