"And Then There Were None" begins when 10 rather unlikable characters, who each have their own questionable pasts, receive invitations to come vacation on an island retreat off of England's coast. Upon arrival, they soon start dying off and the hunt is on for the killer. Although it seems like someone is on the island with them, at first, it becomes apparent that the only one who could be a killer is one of them. The struggle to survive is tense and they are slowly picked off one-by-one. This is the gold standard for locked-room mysteries. I couldn't wait to get back to it every time I set it down and even though I had read this years before, I still couldn't figure out whodunit--though looking at it after the fact, of course it makes perfect sense. I recommend this to anyone who is curious about Christie and just what makes her the Queen of the Mystery.
