The little boy in this story is a hug machine. He will hug everyone and anyone. He will hug anything big or small. He hugs all day until he is wiped out and can hug no more. At this point he is happy to receive any hugs that come his way. The illustrations are done in watercolor. They are fun to look at although not always crisp and easy to view. This story made me chuckle. I enjoyed watching the antics of this boy who could not get enough hugs into his day. I enjoyed the two page spread where you have to follow his trail to see all of the hugs he gives. I especially love the ending where he is all hugged out. The only thing that concerns me about this book is that it is not always okay to give hugs. There are people and animals that children should be taught NOT to hug. However, if you read this to your child, this is something you can point out along the way. You can laugh at the antics of the hug machine while talking about personal safety.
