The Plant Paradox

the Hidden Dangers in "healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain
Aug 28, 2018zipread rated this title 3.5 out of 5 stars
The basic premise here is that plants protect themselves and their seed-offspring with a protein called lectins (think gluten) These can make you sick --- either short term or long term. These sicknesses ranging from sore tummy to a whole gamut of chronic conditions. And that's just the first half of the book. The second half tells us how to avoid these conditions by removing certain specific food from our diets. As MD Gundry would say: it's not what we should eat but what we shouldn't eat. Here's a brief outtake of what the good doctor says we shouldn't eat:pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, legumes, peanuts, tomatoes, cheese, corn. Well, you get the message. The book includes lots of anecdotes illustrating the relationship between "cure" and his diet. Convincing? Enticing? You'll have to find out for yourself. But be warned, we've seen (fad) diets dome and go --- lots of them. As for me, it's not a diet I'll be following any time soon --- it seems all my favorite foods are bent on killing be. For the last 70 years they've failed miserably at accomplishing their goal.
