As told in the extras, it is a Beatty self-indulgent project, a film on the ultra eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes and his legacy in the aviation and film industry. Unfortunately, the script was convoluted when interlaced with a not-romantic romance, not-funny funny dialogue and not-serious serious biopic. Somehow, the film managed to profile Hughes' rich character as a all around not-a-clown clown. The only good thing is the featured original song "The Rules Don't Apply" sung by Lilly Collins, daughter of Phil (see "Videos".)
