I really wanted to enjoy this new Volume #1, as it begins the era of a new Batman creative team with King/Finch writing and penciling. And while the art was good (but not great), the writing was truly mediocre and uninspiring. I was tempted to give this 2 and a half stars, but frankly when you are putting out a flagship comic book title like Batman you need to bring your "A Game" to stand with other great storylines. So I give this just two stars and am slightly disappointed. This story wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either and it was entirely forgettable. In fact, after I finished reading it I wondered if I should have read another book instead or watched a movie, or something like that. It was that bland. I feel like the editor or chief creative officer at DC should've sat the creative team down and asked them to come up with something more unique, emotional, more memorable.
